ROMAN & WILLIAMS / THE COMMUNICATION OF OBJECTS  The other day I found myself sipping a drink with a good friend of mine at the bar of a gem here in Minneapolis called La Belle Vie. It was my first visit there and certainly not my last. The interior of the bar was a space that is intimately responsive to the people it consumed. It somewhat reminded me of the work of Roman & Williams, who have had two major projects in the last two years, the Standard Hotel in New York, and also the Ace Hotel. Robin and Stephen posses the ability to create spaces that feel like they’re worn in while still maintaining a contemporary structure. There’s just something about their spaces that make you feel comfortable. “to find that sweet spot of something that is familiar, that has a sense of memory, but isn’t a complete recreation.” Take the 10 minutes to watch this short film. It's very much worth it.

HOUSE INDUSTRIES / EAMES OBJECTS

Sitting high atop the Pacific Palisades and overlooking the ocean, the Eames House was built as number eight in the series of Case Study Houses and is still recognized for its revolutionary use of space and materials.






These Eames House Blocks form an puzzle image of this monument to mid-century design while showcasing the letters, numerals and symbols of the Eames Century Modern. The Eames House  Block Set will be available for purchase from House Industries on May 1. Each set will be $150.
