Codeword / Reducing Stigma in Mental Health

Mental health professionals are overbooked and overwhelmed, leaving many people without access to timely care when they need it most. This gap creates an urgent need for alternative support systems and solutions like Codeword, that empower everyday people to step in, listen, and help.

We led the creation of Codeword’s brand identity, digital product experience, and marketing strategy while building a peer support platform rooted in empathy, empowerment, and ease of use.

The visual identity centers around the semicolon, a universal symbol of resilience and mental health awareness, reinforcing Codeword’s mission to reduce stigma and strengthen human connection.

The product experience empowers users to share a personalized Codeword with a trusted ally, offering a discreet and stigma-free way to ask for support. With one tap, users can send real-time alerts, while allies receive guided response tools that make it easier to step in and provide meaningful help.

Through thoughtful brand storytelling, intuitive UX design, and value-driven content marketing, Codeword fosters a culture of proactive peer support making it easier for people to reach out, respond, and stay connected when it matters most.
